2008 Wedding Photography Giveway Contest Results

Say that 5 times fast! As most of you loyal readers know, I held a contest in conjunction with Events on a Budget a couple weeks ago. The winner was announced on V-day on the EOAB blog, but I never formally announced it here. I wanted to confirm everything with the bride and groom first. So, without further ado....

I would like to congratulate Melissa and Brian on winning the contest!! Melissa and Brian are getting married on June 21st at The Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne. I'm telling you guys. This wedding is going to be HOT! The ceremony location is surrounded by water and makes for an absolute beautiful setting! I can't wait for the wedding! The images are going to be awesome with such a great location and a gorgeous couple! I'm telling you Melissa and Brian, you're making my job just too easy! ;-)

Melissa is also one of the first clients to book completely through my new booking system, ShootQ. (If you're a photographer, for serious, CHECK THEM OUT! They have made my Clients happier and my life easier! The will start accepting new customers when WPPI starts this March.) Melissa told me that she thought it was "a fantastic tool" and that is was "super easy". She also said she loved the fact that it lets you save the contract as a pdf. That way you not only can print a hard copy, but you'll also have a soft copy for your records. Thanks for the review Melissa! It's always nice to good feedback from you guys!

One more note for the day and then I'm out. I found this really awesome site today called Wedding Mapper. It looks like a really neat tool! You can actually create your own page where you can map out all the locations regarding your event. Then you can send that to your out of town (and in town) guests so they know exactly where everything is taking place! I can honestly say, I always love when my brides provide me with good directions and a great map. I had a bride just last week that had actually taken the time to print everything out for me as well as everyone in the bridal party so that we would know right where to go. How awesome is that? Honestly, I am notorious for getting lost. If it wasn't for the GPS on my phone, I don't think I'd be able to find my way home half the time (sad I know, but oh so true). Anywho, just that that site was rocking for people like me that seem to get lost going to their local grocery store! ;-)

Alright guys! I'm out! I've got some photos from a stock session I did last weekend I'll try to post up later. I'm a little buried right now with a few editing sessions from the past weekend (you know who you are. I hope you had a FABULOUS honeymoon!!!), so it may be more towards the end of the weekend til I'm able to get to it. I'm off! ~MP

Come see awesome local bands and WIN a free Senior Portrait Session!!

Gooooooooooooodd evening everyone! I know I've been a bad blogger lately! I've got so many posts to write, so many photos to edit, and so many things going on behind the scenes now I think I'm losing my mind! ahh! This one, I've wanted to post about for awhile, but just got all the details together last night. *sigh* The life of a busy photographer!

So as the title suggest, all you teenage boys and girls out there can WIN a FREE Senior Session by yours truly just by showing up to a local concert to see some rocking bands play! One thing you might not know about me, is I am a closet punk rock fan! When no one is looking, I'm jammin' out to Blink 182, The Starting Line, Simple Plan, NFG, and maybe if I'm feeling a little wild a little Bowling for Soup (I love their song "Come Back to Texas") Anyways, so when I heard Backstage Riot and Slim2None on Myspace, I just HAD to go to their show on Saturday. James used to play in a band back in Atlanta, so I know a little bit about how bands are. I figured since I was going to the show, that I should take pictures so they could use them for their MySpace. Both these bands are from high school and oh so talented so, I figured it would be fun to give away a free session just for coming out to the show.

    Detail are below:

Solid Sounds Studios is located at 4616 N. Powerline Rd. in Pompano Beach, Florida. The cost is $8. Its sure to be a rockin' show! Hope to see your there!

REMINDER: Be sure to Enter the Contest for FREE Wedding Photography and Cordination

Just a reminder, the deadline is February 1st! YIKES!!! Make sure to get your entry in. Feel free to nominate a couple who you think is deserving.

A lot of thing are going on behind hte scenes right now, so I have to apologize for not posting much lately. It seems like the days have been all blurred together and my to do list just gets longer and longer. Look for a very interesting story concerning a well known pelican (yes, I mean the bird) out of Pompano Beach. Also, I should be *cross your fingures* posting the album from Jenn and Matt's photo session.

Also, some of you have asked me why there's a link to iStockPhoto to the right. Well, this past week I was accepted as one of their contributing photographers! GO ME! YOu have to pass a pretty rigerous test to be accepted. iStock is owned by Getty Images (if any of you work in advertising you KNOW who I'm talking about) so they are very particular on the work they will and will not accept. The only bad knews is I've been so blasted busy I haven't had a chance to submit any work to them yet. But soon, very soon, you will be able to liscense my photography through iStockPhoto for commercial and personal use. :-)

That's all! Have a great night! Hurry up and get those entries in for the 2008 Free Wedding Photography and Coordination giveaway! :)

Now, Bob, tell them what they've won (or could soon win)!

Several posts ago, I blogged on both Tanna & Lori's post and Jen & Matt's post that if you left a comment for them, they would win something. First let's start with Tanna & Lori...

Tanna & Lori received one comment soooooo......(where's a drum roll when you need it?)
They will be getting a free 5x7 of their favorite image!!! Congrats!!!

Jen & Matt received three comments!!! They have won a free 11x17 image!! Wow!

Congrats everyone! If you now these people and see or talk to them, send them a little love their way! ;-)

And since we are spreading the love, why not spread it a little further. There have been a lot of amazing things going on lately in the photography community and I'm just going to throw this one out there. I am an avid blog reader. Not only to I post to my own blog, but I also read others. Call it my guilty little pleasure. I love getting a sneak peak into the lives of so many people I love and admire. So when I went the Events on a Budget blog run by local wedding and event coordinator Melissa Caceres (I'm telling you guys, she's GOOD!), I saw that she was also giving away her services for one lucky bride and groom totally FREE. Something just told me I had to do this, so....

In conjunction with the Events on a Budget giveaway, I would like to give away my wedding services to he lucky couple that wins their contest. Here are the rules taken straight from Melissa's blog:

-Please submit the story of your love, how God has blessed your lives and why you deserve to win this contest along with a picture of both of you.

-The wedding must take place in South Florida during the 2008 year. (I already have weddings booked for this year, so if your date is taken…sorry) I will choose four finalists’s whose stories most touch my heart. I will then have our readers decide the winner by casting their votes for their favorite couples story!

You can send your entries to Melissa at mcaceres@eventsonabudget.com, or you can email them directly to me at Melissa@MelissaPowellPhotography.com. The contest deadline is February 1, 2008 which is soon, so be sure to submit that entry soon! Also, please forward this on to any engaged couple you may know so that they may enter. If you know a deserving couple you would like to nominate, you can enter for them.

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day! I'm out!
